AI doesn’t have to be evil to destroy humanity – if AI has a goal and humanity just happens to come in the way, it will destroy humanity as a matter of course without even thinking about it, no hard feelings.
Elon Musk, Technology Entrepreneur, and Investor.
The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race….It would take off on its own, and re-design itself at an ever-increasing rate. Humans, who are limited by slow biological evolution, couldn’t compete, and would be superseded.
Stephen Hawking
As more and more artificial intelligence is entering into the world, more and more emotional intelligence must enter into leadership.

Learning Objectives:
  • b. 3.a. 3.b. 3.c. 3.d. and 4.a.

[students to be able to recognize stakeholders in system and be able to build and utilise an ethical matrix]

Instructions:

  • Connection: What were the goals of your PB&J algorithm? (tastiest, healthiest, etc.)
  • On a sticky note, write down goals for your PB&J algorithm. Try to identify at least 10. (quick, tasty, pretty/aesthetic, healthy/nutritious, cost-effective/cheap, easy to make)
  • Make them share and discuss their answers
  • Explain what stakeholders are (people who might care about their PB&J algorithm) then ask them to brainstorm the stakeholders and give a reason or two why said stakeholder might care.
    • Prompts: who care about what you eat? Who care about what you pack for lunch at school?
    • Answers could be like: me, my parents, my siblings, doctor, sports coach
  • Question to ask ® the purpose her is to push them to think of indirect stakeholders
    • Where do you get your food?
    • Who makes money off of what food you buy?
    • Do you think your grocer care about your algorithm?
      • Yes, the type of products I use. Hint at the price
    • Share responses
    • Explain the Matrix with the slides
    • Give them the matrix to fill it out with their partner and to discuss what the goal of the algorithm should be for these stakeholders.
    • Share their responses and ask them for their final goals
